Successfully manage expectations
Use the following tools and techniques to help manage patient expectations for LATISSE®.
-
Before-and-after patient consult
Before prescribing LATISSE®, take a photo of the patient's eyelashes
for a "Before" image. Keep the image in the patient's file. When patients come in
for their next prescription, take another photo. This helps to show patients their
progress.
-
Unretouched clinical photos of an actual LATISSE® patient between
week 0 and week 16. Individual results may vary.
A growth timeline
Discuss a timeline of the expected gradual growth—resulting in remarkable effects
as patients continue to use LATISSE® as directed. Look at the following
weeks with the patient and discuss what other patients saw during the clinical trial.
Upon discontinuation of treatment, eyelash growth is expected to return to its
pretreatment level.

Tips to help patients get the most from LATISSE®
-
Add LATISSE® to their routine
Consistency is a key part of getting results. LATISSE® can be part
of their evening routine. For example, patients can apply LATISSE®
solution after brushing their teeth or removing their makeup.
- Always use the FDA-approved sterile applicators
- Do not apply in the eye
- Do not apply to the lower lid because excess hair growth outside the treatment area
may occur
- Don't allow the tip of the bottle or applicator to touch outside the eyelid, fingers,
or other unintended surfaces in order to avoid contamination
- Make sure patients remove contact lenses prior to application; they
may be reinserted after 15 minutes
-
Be patient
Remind patients that growth is gradual. Continue with the nightly routine and don't
overuse.
-
Don't try to catch up
If a patient misses a night, there's no need to apply more to catch up. Patients
should apply LATISSE® the next evening and stay on schedule.
